Having worked in Ankeny since 1999 and moving here 7 years ago, Sarah appreciates the city for the security and opportunities it provides.
"I feel Ankeny is a very clean and safe city," Sarah shares. "Growing up in a small town, I want my family to have as many of the same experiences as I did. Ankeny has 'city life' opportunities with a small town feel."
"Ankeny has excellent school systems," she continues. "With many options for extracurricular activities for my family. Ankeny has a great sense of pride in community involvement. There are many opportunities to volunteer and give back."
Sarah also appreciates Ankeny's great, central location. "[It's] only 10 minutes to downtown Des Moines, 20-25 minutes to Ames (where many of our friends are), 20-25 minutes to Nevada (my husband's hometown) and 70 minutes to my hometown in North Central Iowa." says Sarah. "The location makes it very convenient to reach activities outside the Ankeny area."
When it comes to doing her job well, Sarah values the balance of working in the same community she lives in. "This may not be a factor to some," confesses Sarah. "But I feel the short commute to work allows me to spend more time devoted to my job as well as my family. It's nice not to have to worry about interstate traffic, and less stressful as well."
As a young professional, Sarah recognizes the influx of talent in the area. "Ankeny is full of many young professionals" she says. "Also, since we are only 30 minutes from Iowa State University, we are constantly seeing many great candidates come into our industry that want to stay in Iowa. These factors challenge me daily to work hard and go above and beyond my daily responsibilities to stay competitive with others in the workforce."
"I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to work for a successful Fortune 500 company located here in Ankeny." she continues. "This has allowed my husband and I to live close to our families, while each pursuing a career in the Transportation and Logistics field."
