Summer Reading Program starts June 1

 ANKENY, Iowa (May 25, 2012) - With summer officially started for the kids, Kirkendall Public Library will be kicking off their annual Summer Reading Program on June 1. This year’s theme is Dream Big – READ! and the goal of the program is to encourage reading throughout the summer months and help retain reading skills. Program participants pick up a reading log at the library, follow instructions for their age group and can earn prizes throughout the summer.
This summer, everyone can participate in the program including infants and toddlers, elementary school-aged children, teens and adults. Reading logs will be available for pick up at the Library beginning Friday, June 1. Readers will have until Friday, July 27 to claim prizes.
In addition to the reading logs, Kirkendall Public Library will have a series of programs and presentations throughout June and July. Please note space will be limited for many of these programs.

Temporary Location
Kirkendall Public Library is located at 1210 NW Prairie Ridge Drive. Additional information on the library’s offerings can be found at www.ankenyiowa.gov/library. Due to building renovations, the library will be working out of a temporary location until May 28. Library patrons can find limited services at the Fire Department Headquarters, located at 120 NW Ash Drive. Hours at the temporary location are: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and closed on Sundays.
