The State of Iowa prohibits discharge of all fireworks above and beyond sparklers, snakes, caps, and party popper classes of combustibles. Chapter 9.68.010 of the City Code addresses fireworks displays. In general, fireworks are not allowed within the Ankeny City Limits any more than they are allowed anywhere in the State of Iowa. However, a permit may be obtained for special events and organized displays from the Fire Marshal.
If you have questions, please contact the Fire Marshal for clarification on a case by case basis.
