Sept. 11, 2001 Remembrance Ceremony

On Monday, Sept.11, 2023 at 8:45 AM, the City of Ankeny Fire Department will hold a short ceremony to remember those who lost their lives during and after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.  The ceremony will be held just outside of the museum on the southside of Fire Station 1, 120 NW Ash Drive beginning at 8:45 AM.  During this ceremony, members of the Ankeny Fire Department will welcome guests, conduct a ringing of the bells, and lower the American Flag with bagpipe music. This ceremony will be brief, as a much larger event is planned every five years and will resume in 2026.  

Visitors and citizens of the community are welcome to attend this brief ceremony and can park by the main doors on the east side of the building.
