The Ankeny Mayor's Youth Council is seeking nominations for “Youth of the Year” and “Youth Club of the Year”. Nomination forms will be accepted through March 10 and can come from any person wishing to nominate a youth or youth club, regardless of residency, age or position. Nomination forms can be found online at www.ankenyiowa.gov/myc. Forms must be received no later than March 10 at 5 p.m. to be considered for an award. Award winners will be announced at the annual Mayor’s Youth Leadership Symposium in April.
The Youth of the Year award recognizes exceptional youth in the Ankeny community. The award is given to an individual who, over the last year, has made positive life choices and enriched the Ankeny community through his or her service. All high school-aged youth attending Ankeny High School, Ankeny Centennial High School, Ankeny Christian Academy or any high school-aged youth being homeschooled and living within Ankeny city limits are eligible.
The Club of the Year award will be given to a group that exemplifies commitment to service within the Ankeny community. It is not necessary that the club is solely focused on service, but that service is included in activities throughout the year. Any youth-based group or club involving high school-aged students that does the majority of its work/service in the City of Ankeny is eligible. The club sponsor(s) are allowed to nominate their own group.
The Ankeny Mayor's Youth Council will be hosting the annual Youth Leadership Symposium Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Otter Creek Golf Course, Pinnacle Club starting at 9 a.m. The event is FREE and open to the public. The agenda will include a complimentary breakfast prior to a special keynote speaker and an awards ceremony recognizing the Youth of the Year and the Youth Club of the Year.
