The Ankeny Police Department is excited to introduce the newest member of its dedicated team, K9 Charlie. Charlie is a 2 ½ years old Belgian Malinois, who brings a wealth of skills to the force.
Assigned to Officer Colton Campbell, a four-year veteran of the Ankeny Police Department, K9 Charlie joined the department in June of this year. Since then, he has undergone rigorous training in narcotics detection, tracking, and apprehension. Officer Campbell and K9 Charlie have completed several training programs, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining the highest standards in law enforcement.
The addition of K9 Charlie to the Ankeny Police Department was made possible through the generous support of an anonymous donor. Their commitment to public safety and the well-being of the community has directly contributed to enhancing the capabilities of our police force.
"We are grateful for the support of our community and the generosity of the anonymous donor who made it possible for us to welcome K9 Charlie to our department. The specialized skills Charlie brings will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the residents of Ankeny," said Darius Potts, Chief of the Ankeny Police Department.
K9 Charlie's primary responsibilities include narcotics detection, tracking, and apprehension, making him a valuable asset in various law enforcement scenarios. The Ankeny Police Department looks forward to the positive impact K9 Charlie will have in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
