Ankeny Police Respond to a Four-Year-Old with a Gunshot Wound

On Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 11:26 a.m. Ankeny Police went to 910 NE 5th St. in reference to a four-year-old female with a gunshot wound.

Ankeny police officers and Ankeny Fire Department personnel went to the residence and began to treat the child’s injuries. Ankeny Fire Department Medics transported the girl to a local hospital, where she died due to her injuries.

The Ankeny Police Department is investigating the incident. Detectives are talking with family members, neighbors, and witnesses.
