1. Grass & Weed Height

It is against city code to allow grass, weeds, or other vegetation to grow upon a property to a height in excess of 12 inches.

All grass or weeds or other vegetation exceeding such height may be cut or eliminated by the City after giving five days' written notice to the owner or occupant at their expense.

2. Junk Vehicles

Chapter 55, Section 1 of the City's Municipal Code generally defines a junk vehicle as inoperable. Unless stored in a garage, enclosed structure, or salvage yard, junk vehicles are considered to be a threat to public health and safety.

Please consult the City's Municipal Code for specific characteristics of junk vehicles before using this form to alert Code Enforcement Officers of potential violations.

3. Noise Complaint

Noise complaints are managed by the Ankeny Police Department. Please call the department's non-emergency number at 515-286-3333 to file a report (you can do so anonymously) and an officer will be dispatched to your location.

Residents who submit a service request through this form will be instructed to call the non-emergency number at the discretion and availability of the City of Ankeny's webmaster.

Information submitted through this form will not be seen by the Ankeny Police Department and will not constitute an officially submitted complaint.

4. Parking Violations

5. Tree Overhang

In accordance with Chapter 166, Section 4 of the City's Municipal Code, property owners shall keep the trees on, or overhanging the street, trimmed so that all branches will be at least 15 feet above the surface of the street and 8 feet above the sidewalks.

If the property owner fails to trim the trees, the City may serve notice on the abutting property owner requiring that such action be taken within 5 days. If such action is not taken within that time, the City may perform the required action and assess the costs against the abutting property for collection in the same manner as a property tax.
