The city-wide mosquito spraying program was suspended in 2011, due largely to the program's high cost and general ineffectiveness in widespread areas.
The Parks and Recreation Department will spray chemicals for mosquitoes one to three times per year at a few high-traffic recreational sites where spot treatment is more effective. These locations include:
- Aquatic Centers
- Prairie Ridge Sports Complex
- Hawkeye/Wagner Park Complex
- High Trestle Trail
- Gay Lee Wilson Trail
- Summerfest Site the second week of July
