CITY OF ANKENY POLICY ON THE USE OF THE CITY COMMUNITY BRANDING LOGO
The city's community branding logo is to be maintained as a symbol of the coordinated identification of the community's services, points of interest, and events. Use by any person or
organization must be specifically permitted by the City Manager or a designee under the
authority granted by the City Council, and only where either of the following circumstances exist:
- The organization must be a community recognized non-profit organization and use of the
logo will be restricted to events or merchandise sales which are determined by the City Manager
to be community based in nature (i.e. Summerfest) and open to participation or purchase by all
citizens of Ankeny, or
- A for-profit entity requests to use the logo in a manner approved by
the City Manager and first pays a fee (five percent of estimated gross funds generated by use of
the logo) for such use of the logo.
Under alternative (1), proceeds from the use of the logo
through the sale of merchandise without paying a license fee will be restricted to use by a nonprofit
service agency or club located within the City of Ankeny which provides open membership
or use of its services to all Ankeny citizens. Any approved use of the logo (and collection of
applicable fees) shall be considered to be for the specific event, time, and use so approved.
Prior approval of a use shall not constitute approval for any future or recurring use. Appeals of
any decision of the City Manager may be made informally to the City Council by appearing at
the public comment portion of the agenda at any regular Council meeting.
