The City of Ankeny has been awarded a $25,000 Youth Sports and Recreational Grant from Prairie Meadows to help fund the replacement of the softball batting cages at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex. This cost-shared project with the Ankeny Girls Softball Association will enhance safety, functionality and access for thousands of young athletes.
This project will replace the aging chain-link batting cages, which have deteriorated from years of use and weather exposure. The new batting cages will feature modern netting, reinforced frames, and protective enhancements. Construction is scheduled to begin in August, with completion expected within one month, weather permitting.
The new batting cages will be used primarily by the Ankeny Girls Softball Association but will be available to the public outside of league and tournament play. This generous grant from Prairie Meadows supports Ankeny’s ongoing commitment to enhancing quality of life and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles for its youth.
