Holds
Items can be held for you near the circulation desk for five (5) days, with notifications of availability sent via text or email. While holds can be placed at any time, items are not ready for pickup until you have received a notification. Items must be checked out on the account they were reserved under.
How do I place a hold?
Holds can be placed through your account on the online catalog or by contacting the library. Default login is your library barcode number and the last four (4) digits of the phone number on the account. Click 'Place Request' on the item, and choose the date when you would like the hold to become active.
Can I put multiple items on hold at once?
To place multiple holds at once, create and add items to a list. When finished, select items in the list and click 'Place Request' at the bottom of the page. Choose the date you'd like the holds to become active.
How do I pick up my hold?
Holds are near the circulation desk, organized by the first three (3) letters of your last name, followed by first and middle initial. If someone is picking your holds up for you, they will need your library card, or permission from you to use your account. Contact the library to grant someone permission to use your account.
Can someone bring my items to me? (Curbside Service)
Curbside service is available during open hours until 30 minutes before closing. Park next to the signs on the North side of the building near the flagpoles; call the library when you arrive and give staff a few minutes to collect your items. Curbside is not available in temperatures or windchill below 0 F, or inclement weather such as high winds, blizzard or icy conditions.
Can I pause my hold?
If you would like to pause or freeze your holds for a period of time, go to your Requests on your online account and select the item(s) you would like to pause. Choose 'Suspend/Reactivate Selected' and enter the date you will be ready to begin receiving holds again.
Can I reserve digital books?
Holds for digital books and audiobooks must be placed through Libby or the Overdrive website. For help using Libby, contact Justin Armbruster at 515-965-6458 or jarmbruster@ankenyiowa.gov.
