High Trestle Trail Experience Park

The High Trestle Trail Experience Park isn’t your typical park. There’s no playground or sports field, just a living urban greenspace designed for exploration, creativity and connection.

Stretching 14 acres along both sides of the High Trestle Trail from West First Street to the underpass at South Ankeny Boulevard, this park is being developed in phases over the next several years. When complete, it will feature a mix of public art, interactive amenities, and unique experiences that celebrate the trail and surrounding community.

What’s Here Now

The recently completed first phase set the tone for a nature-rich park with more than 147 newly planted trees, native landscaping, stormwater features, and infill soil to shape the terrain. New lighting along the trail supports evening trail use and enhances access to nearby Uptown shops and entertainment.

A Trail That Glows

The first attraction, the Glow Trail, is now open. This 425-foot side path connects to the main trail and glows at night. Located just east of SW Walnut Street, it was funded through a public art grant from BRAVO.

What’s Next

Future phases will add public art, interactive features and more, as funding from public, private and grant sources becomes available. High Trestle Trail Experience Park will continue to grow and evolve, inviting visitors to discover something new with each visit.
